How to Prepare for Your First
Three Rounds of the Season
Tip #1:
Don't set your expectations too high. Play shot by shot and don't get ahead of
yourself. Hold yourself responsible only for the effort; don't try to control
the outcome.
Tip #2:
Develop a sound mental routine. Never worry about the score. What you are
looking for is progress, not perfection.
Tip #3:
Arrive at the course early enough to allow yourself time to practice and develop
course management ideas. Work harder on your short game because this is such a
"feel" part of your game, and feel is what escapes us during the
off-season.
Tip #4:
Play with people that you are familiar with and enjoy playing with. Do not over
exert yourself. You don't need to play 36 holes the first day. Take your time.
Remember that golf is a recreational sport. Enjoy the game.
Tip #5:
Set aside time after your round of golf to analyze your game. Take notes and
discuss any questions with your instructor.
